Overview & Responsibilities
Responsible for the success and performance of the SE team. Ensures delivery an enterprise grade managed services & cloud adoption strategy and solution set to our customers. Leads the SE team, supporting them in their day-to-day responsibilities, acting as a mentor and coach to drive team development, to improve Rackspace’s solution engineering processes and to enhance team performance. Supports the business in its growth demands through working directly as a Solution Architect with Enterprise customers. Participates or plays a leadership role in professional services engagements, including cloud advisory, transformation and Enterprise Architecture projects. Demonstrated experience and capability to advise, architect and deliver end to end, optimized cloud services and solutions for Enterprise customers.
The Primary goal of the SE Manager is to deliver an outstanding technical pre-sales experience for Rackspace’s customers (existing and new). Specifically, the SE Manager will be required to play a key role in the development of Enterprise customers for Rackspace and the delivery of solutions and services which span multiple Rackspace service lines (e.g. Private Cloud, Professional Services, FAWS, FAzure, etc.) The SE Manager and their team will engage with Rackspace’s key buyers, including C-level Execs, IT Directors/Managers, to demonstrate significant technology leadership in order to drive valuable outcomes which benefit their business. Successful candidates will possess hands-on experience with the design and delivery of a broad range of Enterprise Cloud solutions and services. This knowledge and experience will be used to influence buying decisions and design flexible, supportable solutions to meet business technical and commercial requirements. As a leader, they will also be experienced in managing, motivating and driving the engagement of a highly technical team.
Building a Fanatical and highly knowledgeable team of Solution Engineers who provide an exceptional pre-sales technical and consulting experience with both existing and new customers.
Responsible for supporting the personal and professional development of the Rackers within the SE team.
Balancing demands of the sales stakeholders with SE team resources and requirements.
Engage with customers as a Senior Enterprise Architect and/or Enterprise pre-sales resource in partnership with Sales Executives.
Contribute towards sales strategy for key strategic deals for Asia.
Utilise deep technology expertise and experience to design supportable, scalable cloud solutions and services based on customer requirements.
Support sales efforts by demonstrating and communicating Rackspace Fanatical Support for world’s leading clouds
Act as the bridge between technical and business level stakeholders, internally and externally.
Engage directly with Enterprise prospects and customers to listen and understand their vision and service requirements in order to inform the Rackspace service strategy and map appropriate products and solutions.
Run scoping workshops aiming to build tailored solutions.
Participate, and sometimes lead the design, of Professional Services engagements such as Cloud Advisory, Transformation and Enterprise Architecture projects.
Present Rackspace’s value proposition and demonstrate technical leadership to audiences at internal and external events (e.g. trade shows, webex’s, roundtables).
To present technical concepts in authoritative and clear manner to customers and Rackers through demos, presentations and proposals.
Effective communication and cooperation with sales and operational teams; balancing operational integrity with revenue generation.
Provide coaching & guidance to others within, and outside, of SE team.
Key Performance Indicators
High utilisation & engagement with sales leaders and front-line sales Rackers.
Effectiveness of Solution Engineering Process, including Delivery team satisfaction with solutions produced.
Feedback from Sales/Managers on overall team health and performance.
Effectively communicate team success and growth strategy to key stakeholders.

Racker Engagement measured using Rackperpulse, Staff attrition, sickness, training hours and tenure.
MRR Impact -MRR contribution in helping sales teams hit Rackspace Asia sales attainment.
Training and certs -Drive training and achievement of certifications main focus AWS & Azure.
Contribution -Contribute to sharing knowledge and expertise with the wider community via blogs, wiki, whitepapers, training, etc.
Win Rate -Align SEs to the sales win rate target. This will vary from SMB, MM & Enterprise.
Utilisation -Activity target for the number of engagements, calls, and meetings for architects.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, preferably in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a technology related field.
Minimum of 5 - 7 years of technical pre/prost-sales and cloud consulting experience.
Prefer previous management experience in technical pre-sales; direct or indirect responsibility for small to large teams with diverse skill sets.
Enterprise architecture experience, including track record of success in complex Enterprise pre-sales, sales and Professional Services engagements.
Demonstrated leadership attributes and/or management experience, especially in a technical pre-sales context.
Passion for creating great customer outcomes by designing and building technology solutions.
Ability to inspire and motivate others.
A talent for exploring the prospects business pains and designing hosting solutions that fit.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with great attention to detail.
Strong rapport and relationship building skills with both internal departments and external customers.
